The 7-member delegation are in Hawaii for the said activity which will be held from 9 to 14 April 2018 on the islands of Oahu and the Big Island.

The KNLE for Coastal Resource Management visit to Hawaii was made possible through a grant provided by the US State Department’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs, to Tanggol Kalikasan (TK), a public interest environmental law office in the Philippines. Part of TK’s program is to build capacity of local government units in the Philippines to help them govern people and communities in their areas of jurisdiction. Capacity building is undertaken by TK through the Institute of Environmental Governance (IEG), its partnership with state universities and development institutions.

During their visit to Hawaii, the Philippine delegation will have learning exchanges with officials of the US National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), a courtesy call on County of Hawaii Mayor Harry Kim, visits to James Campbell National Wildlife refuge, the University of Hawaii in Hilo and a number of aquaculture farms.
