13/05/2016: PHL CONSUL GENERAL ATTENDS TURNOVER OF US ARMY PACIFIC COMMAND IN HAWAII

13 May 2016 - Outgoing US Army Pacific (USARPAC) Commander General Vincent Brooks officially turned over the command to General Robert Brown during a change-of-command ceremony held on May 04 at the historic Palm Circle, Fort Shafter, Hawaii in the presence of USPACOM officials led by Admiral Harry Harris Jr., other senior military officials, US Senator Brian Schatz, members of Hawaii’s consular corps, soldiers, and family members.

The outgoing commander General Brooks, who led USARPAC for three years, is taking command of US Forces Korea; while his successor, General Brown, came from Fort Leavenworth, Kansas where he was commanding general of the US Army Combined Arms Center.

US Pacific Command Commander Harry Harris, Jr. delivered the opening remarks, where he praised General Brooks in leading the helm of USARPAC at a most challenging time. General Daniel Allyn, Vice-Chief of Staff of the Army, also gave his remarks.

After the ceremony, Philippine Consul General to Honolulu Gina A. Jamoralin thanked General Brooks for being a staunch friend of the Philippines and for his active engagement and partnership with the Philippine Army, including the recently-held US-Philippines Balikatan joint exercises in the Philippines last month.

Consul General Jamoralin also congratulated General Brown for his new assignment and expressed hope that the strong cooperation between USARPAC and AFP will be further enhanced under his leadership. END
