PHL CONSULATE TO HOLD KAMPEON SA KUSINA: A FILIPINO CULINARY SHOWDOWN

The Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu would like to inform the public that it will hold a cooking competition among amateur chefs, cooks, and food enthusiasts of Filipino descent on 30 November 2013 (Saturday), 2:00 pm at the Philippine Consulate. This event will kick off the Christmas celebration in Hawaii to launch the 2nd Parol Festival. Lighting of the lanterns will follow at 6:30 pm.

Entitled “Kampeon sa Kusina: A Filipino Culinary Showdown”, the said competition will showcase the cooking prowess and expertise of Filipino-American cooks and foodies, with the hope to brand Philippine cuisine in Hawaii, bring greater awareness and appreciation of Filipino cuisine among the global community at large, and for residents in the community to actively support Filipino restaurants in the state.

The competition is open to all amateur chefs, cooks and food enthusiasts, at least 18 years old at the time of contest entry, of Filipino heritage and a legal resident of Hawaii. There will be a maximum of ten (10) amateur finalists in the competition who will compete and showcase their cooking prowess and expertise in this prestigious Filipino culinary cook- off.

Deadline of entries is on 9 November 2013.
